BE AWARE of the following course requirements:


  • attend class & take notes

  • actively read ca.25+ pages before each class meeting (use the active reading worksheet)

  • The Game, earning eXperience points (Xp) in each weekly unit (see Scorecard)
    the following is a sample unit:
    • three classwork assignments (e.g. discussion forum, minute essays) – 12Xp
    • either a quiz based upon primary source readings or a map quiz – 10Xp
    • writing assignment (e.g. rough draft, peer edit, or final draft) – 10-80Xp
    • museum visit or DC-points scavenger hunt – 25-50 DC-Xp
    unit contents vary, but each weekly unit will total ca.100Xp

  • writing assignments include four short essays (ca.2.5 pages), conforming to set guidelines
