BE AWARE of the following course requirements:


  • attend each class meeting & take notes

  • read ca.25+ pages for each class meeting (ca.1.5hr) using the Active Reading worksheet

  • download and install GoogleEarth desktop (NB ironically this will not run on a Chromebook)

  • participate in The Game, earning eXperience points each week (cf. Scorecard):
    • coursework (e.g. discussion forum, minute essays)
    • quiz (based upon primary source readings or maps)
    • project (e.g. map, ancient internet meme)
    • writing assignment (e.g. rough draft, peer edit, or final draft)
    • site visit or scavenger hunt (DC-points)

  • writing assignments consist of three short essays (ca.2.5 pages), which must conform to specific guidelines (see also: Writing Matters Statement)
